Bullet proof operation. Only does a single thing at a time, but it does it well.

Bugs:

If you do a long session of a lot of cutting and merging of videos, the unit seems to run out of memory. Eventually, when you go back to the browser window, instead of the browser window background blue color, you can see your current source channel underlaying what the browser is showing. Powering the unit off and back on clears this problem.
Set thumbnail sometimes is slow to react

Making it region free on the DVD player:

Setting the region code or making it region-free is actually fairly straight forward. Press SETUP, navigate down to the 'Exit' icon and key in the digits 2, 9, 6, 0. You should get the hidden menu.

Expanding the hard drive:

The final question that you asked is can you replace the hard drive like the Polaroid? I tried putting in a 300gb HDD and it took it, but the unit partitioned it at 80gb. So I then hooked up the original HDD to my computer and used Norton Ghost 9.0 to make a backup of this drive. I then created a FAT32 drive on the 300gb and used Norton Ghost to restore the image on this drive. This allowed about 120gb to be used, but I think if I ran a Clean Drive through the units menu this would probably re-partition the drive back to 80gb.
