The Wiki Way More About This Book

This wiki supports retrieving pages from almost any other wiki. Although the wiki languages can differ a lot, this can save you some time and eliminate some manual cutting and pasting.

This feature is mainly intended to help you copy your own content from other Wikis to this Wiki. If you are copying someone else's content, you must MAKE SURE that you have a right to copy the pages here -- check the wiki site's copyright page before copying pages over. If they do not give free permission on the webpage to copy, try to contact the author and ask for permission before you copy the content.

This command will work to allow you to import text from any other wiki that allows you to edit it's pages. If the wiki does not allow page editing, you will not be able to use this method to import the pages from it.

To get the page of another wiki onto the wiki page you are currently editing, you need to know the URL of the edit page for the other wiki's page that you want to get. When you know this edit page url, on the page you are editing on this site embed this command:

GETWIKIEDIT http://edit_url_from_other_wiki Couldn't find textarea on page! Couldn't find textarea on page! Couldn't find textarea on page! Couldn't find textarea on page! Couldn't find textarea on page! Couldn't find textarea on page!:

Notice the : on the end. You must add this colon so that this wiki knows for sure where the URL ends and the rest of your WIKI text continues. Note: You'll see an error above 'Couldn't find text area on page' because our sample URL above does not actually exist.

When you click save, the command will be replaced with the wiki text from the other wiki. If there is a problem, the command will be left in place, and an error message will be added following the command. Upon successful completion of the command, the command is deleted from the text of your page here. You may want to edit the page a second time, to cleanup any differences in wiki text interpretation between the other wiki and this wiki.
